For those of you who watched the 2012 NBA All-Star festivities, it was a great weekend. On Friday, Kyrie Irving showed everyone why he was the first pick in the draft. He was 8-8 on three pointers and led his team to victory. The celebrity game was a little boring as always...
Saturday night was entertaining with the 3-point shootout and the Slam Dunk contest. The 3-point shootout came down to Kevin Love and Kevin Durant. After multiple shootout tiebreakers, Kevin Love emerged as the victor.
The Slam Dunk contest was, in our opinion, below average. Blake Griffin put on a show last year. But this year it was forgettable. Something needs to change here. The NBA or Sprite needs to figure out a way to incentivize the stars to participate. Maybe put up a million dollar prize! That would surely attract people like LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, and Blake Griffin to participate year after year. What do you think?
Sunday was the day of the All-Star game. There were plenty of highlight dunks in that game, led by LeBron. But the West team was comfortably in the lead for most of the game. Then the East decided to play hard in the fourth quarter and it got exciting. But in the end, the West won 152-149. Kevin Durant scored 36 points and took home the MVP. LeBron had 36 and Dwyane Wade had 24-10-10 for the East.
